Hey guys, how is it that sometimes I or the AI can occupy besieged settlement without a fight? Macedon just occupied my settlement that had a significant garrison after a long siege.

A week ago I won a battle with like 7 units against a Frankish army like 5 times the size, the towers on maximum level killed like 40% of the enemy by the time they got to the square, best victory I ever had it was insane

great video. How about siege engines onagers. Which is better in destroying walls faster? fire munitions or normal ones. in my experience fire muniruins do more damage but waste shots and damages buildings. but I m not sure. so I just use normal munions against stone walls for accuracy and make every shot counts.

I have a friend who used to play with his brother. My friend played the Patriarch. He made all decisions on building, recruiting, diplomacy, finance... everything. And his brother played the General. He fought every skirmish, battle, and siege. The loved it! Their favorite campaign was as the Carthaginians... within two generations they were overrun by Rome, Numidia, and the Spanish. All they had was the Balearic Islands and Carthage... With stacks of Scipiones closing in, the Patriarch decided to load up his remaining troops and escape by sea. The Carthaginian refugees made it to Britannia where the General conquered Londinium. Guiding their newly exiled Carthaginian Republic (far from Roman power), they defeated the northern and western barbarians. Ultimately, they conquered Rome without having any African or Mediterranean island possessions.

You forgot the changes to the city layout you get with different walls. Large walls on a Roman \ Greek settlement force the AI to run a maze before getting to your town plaza. Most of the enemy army will be destroyed and exhausted before they even see a single soldier, even if you don't contest the walls or streets at all. Conversely, simple and epic stone walls result in a much simpler layout.

Public order tip; use plague as an advantage to get population down. Don't forget to remove the generals that are inside before you intentionally infect a settlement

The battle went well = Occupy The battle was annoying, but you're feeling exceptionally generous = Enslave The battle was particularly annoying = Exterminate But I guess your reasoning is possible as well. Good video!

The most helpful thing in this vid is that you can move retinues. I literally didn't know that you can do that. The actual stats are fairly straightforward insofar as what areas they would be good at, even if you didn't know the details. I guess I have to go put all my admin retinues on my admin guys now.

All farms give population growth. Your army (based on number of soldiers) can increase public order by up to 80%, but that depends on size of your city - the bigger the city, the more millitia it needs.

Pontifex Maximus (supreme pontiff) was primarily head of all religious matters, as he was chief high priest of Rome. Was supposed to oversee most important rituals on religious days and funeral rites of important people. One famous supreme pontiff was Julius Caesar who was still persecuted by the senate for his "illegal war in Gaul" so that office didn't really protect him there. Also one could be elected consul at the same time.

A large garrison increases public order, because the soldiers help out the citizens 🤣 Dude a garrison increases public order because citizens know that they dont stand a chance in an uprising if there are too many soldiers in the city. Also a governor could use a large army to immediately suppress any kind of civil unrest before it turns into an uprising.

Not gonna lie i like the pyramids in Memphis wonder. If you’re going for a 100% game but starting out in Britania, Gaul, Germania, Carthage, Spain, or Roman. That distance from capital penalty really starts to add up. But man if you’re armenia, parthia, or pontus, selucids for instance…it’s just okay and a nice convenience.

a tip dont shoot at artillery with ur infantry cuz the artillery can easily just switch to canister and blow u to bits u need to charge em cuz they have more hit points

Thanks for the video, it was very helpful! Just started playing Rome Total War 1 this week and encountered British heavy chariots today. My first instinct was go countercharge with my own calvary (general and equites). It did not go well!

In a city battle, chariots frequently guard flag. Using dogs from outside the gate can wipe out all the chariots in the city, though not always if the chariots start moving.

Your units do not get +1 Attack per Command star. This has never been demonstrated by any serious tests, quite the opposite, really. It seems to affect the autoresolve, but manual battles you do not get that, not for all your unit, nor for units in your General's aura area - the second part that you mention about morale is correct.
